Brad Park, CEO United Way Oakville
Oakville’s success as a community can be attributed to the contributions of the many volunteers who work tirelessly to ensure the health and well being of its citizens. The Lloyd Duncan Memorial Award for Outstanding Volunteerism is a special way of recognizing one exceptional volunteer who serves as a shining example to each of us. For those of you who are not familiar with Lloyd’s contributions to the Oakville community, he was a long time United Way volunteer in the Leadership Development and Training and Consulting Programs. Lloyd encapsulated true excellence in volunteerism and dedication to this community.
Exemplifying these characteristics is this year’s award recipient Tim Johnston.
Tim joined United Way in 2007 as a member of the Board of Directors. He sat on the Finance and Audit Committee, and then stepped into the role of Board Chair. During his time on the Board, Tim has been integral to building new community relationships, stewarding new and existing donors, and he led the organization with a perfect balance of humour and dignity. Tim navigated some complex issues during his tenure as Chair, and moved United Way Oakville forward in many ways. Tim has now retired from the Board of Directors and we would like thank him for his many years of service. However, he is still continuing his outstanding record of volunteerism as United Way Oakville’s 2013 Campaign Cabinet Chair.
Aside from all he has done for United Way, Tim also has a day job. He is a Managing Director in the Equity Capital Markets Americas Group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and is Head of Equity Capital Markets – Canada. Tim joined Bank of America Merrill Lynch in Toronto in 2011 after 20 years of experience in Equity Capital Markets and Investment Banking at RBC Capital Markets in Toronto and New York.
