Community Workshops

United Way of Oakville’s Roadmap to Success Workshop Series offers staff and volunteers in the non-profit sector with easily accessible, low-cost professional development. Facilitated by industry leaders, workshops are held each spring and fall and cover all aspects of agency operations such as fundraising, board governance, marketing, event planning and much more.

The Roadmap to Success series includes:

When people are unable to resolve workplace conflict, playing the ‘blame game’ is a common substitute for real attempts at resolution.  Participants who attend this session will have the opportunity to:

  • Debunk the Myths and Misconceptions about conflict in the workplace
  • Learn to quickly settle the question of, “whose problem is it anyway?” in any dispute
  • Look at their personal style and how it impacts their response to conflict
  • Distinguish Assertive responses over Aggressive or Passive ones
  • Select the appropriate Mode of Handling Conflict and Negotiating a Resolution

This session will be led by Peggy Grall, author of Just Change It and Past President, Canadian Professional Speakers Association.  Peggy is an Executive Coach, key-note speaker and former Psychotherapist with 19 years experience in the areas of Change Management and Conflict Resolution.

Today's successful organizations must constantly monitor and respond to the needs of their stakeholders.  Whether these stakeholders are staff, volunteers, clients, partners, governance or funding groups we know we cannot afford to leave them out of the loop, otherwise we risk losing their confidence and support.  Yet how do we really know if we are meeting their needs?  This workshop takes you through a self-assessment of stakeholder alignment behaviors, as each aspect of the model is explained and applied to your situation. This fun and thought provoking session will be of particular value to Executive Directors, senior staff and Board Members.

In this workshop participants will learn how to identify the relevant materials required for a sponsorship proposal, and how to incorporate this material into a unique, well-written, and well-designed package.  Participants will also review the essential steps to take when looking for a corporate sponsor.
