Pelmorex Cares

Pelmorex Media Inc., the parent company that owns and operates two national specialty television networks: The Weather Network and its French-language sister station, MétéoMédia, demonstrated their support for the Oakville community last week with a gift of $43,900 to United Way Oakville.

Pelmorex has made community support part of their corporate culture.  The Pelmorex Cares initiative was created in 2005.  An initiative devoted to “helping families in need”.  Using an annual gift budget as a base and topped by corporate and staff contributions a significant donation is made every year to support families in the community who are experiencing significant hardship and who are truly in need of assistance.  The Pelmorex task force works with United Way to best support their corporate goals of helping families in need of assistance through United Way supported agencies.

Fern Hill School raises $51,441 for United Way of Oakville

Fern Hill School has made history by being the first Oakville school to raise over $50,000 for United Way of Oakville. Through school spirit and a dedication to the community, students, staff and families came together to reach this milestone.  

“This is a tremendous accomplishment. These students have truly raised the bar for other schools in Oakville,” said Barbara Burton, CEO United Way of Oakville. “This is a very significant achievement.”  

 

United Way has become a part of the fabricof Fern Hill culture,” said JoanneMcLean “Students andfaculty alike look forward to United Way week every year.”

2007 marks the 17th year that Fern Hill has run a campaign for United Way of Oakville.

Students participated in a full week of United Way themed events that included

a silent auction, a garage sale, a dress down day and a gift basket auction. 

 

 

Oakville Mayor & United Way of Oakville CEO walk about BIAs

 

Oakville Mayor, Rob Burton joined United Way of Oakville CEO, Barbara Burton in a walk about the Kerr Street and Downtown BIAs on Oct. 30.  Throughout the afternoon, the two dropped in on local merchants encouraging them to support United Way of Oakville by displaying campaign signs and including campaign post cards in their shopping bags.

The highlight of the afternoon was the unveiling if two new thermometer signs to track campaign progress. 

 

 

 

Ford central headquarters holds United Way week

It was a full week of United Way themed events and fun at Ford’s Central Headquarters last week. On Monday, a morning fire drill got employees out of their offices and into the cafeteria where United Way of Oakville (UWO) CEO Barbara Burton presented Ford president and CEO, Bill Osborne with a Thanks a Million award. Last year Ford raised over a million dollars nationally.

Employees shopped the book sale on Tuesday, enjoyed Halloween themed events on Wednesday and dressed down on Friday.Over $3,000 was raised for United Way of Oakville on Thursday during the annual bake auction.
