Thank you to each volunteer who joined us at the 2013 Workplace Volunteer Networking event, held at the beautiful new PwC building in Oakville. Volunteers enjoyed food, a cheerful atmosphere and shared the tricks and tips behind their workplace campaigns.
This event was hosted at the newly constructed PricewaterhouseCoopers building on Davis Road in Oakville. PricewaterhouseCoopers is a proud community supporter and strong partner of United Way. Last year, PwC raised more than $2.2 million for United Way across Canada. Tax Partner and Site Leader of PwC Oakville, Betty Ann Jarrett, welcomed everyone and spoke towards the importance of workplace campaigns in building a company’s identity and community-mindedness. Special thanks to Campaign Cabinet member and Partner at PwC, Christine Herrington, for her help in organizing this event.
Lin Rogers, Workplace Campaign Coordinator for the Town of Oakville also shared her experiences with the Town’s ongoing 2013 campaign. Focusing this year on building awareness and fundraising, the Town tried communicating and reaching out to each employee, specifically targeting smaller work sites.
Workplace campaigns raise over 70% of total funds raised for United Way Oakville. Funds raised each year are used to positively impact the community by creating opportunities for children and youth, supporting people living in vulnerable situations, and building healthy communities. Thank you to each volunteer who gives back to the community through United way Oakville – your hard work makes an incredible difference.
