Community Achievement Celebration

Nearly 150 people joined United Way of Oakville for its annual Community Achievement Celebration on Wednesday, December 9th. The breakfast took place at Operating Engineers Banquet Hall and was provided by Whole Foods. United Way Campaign Awards were presented to the following organizations:

We are thankful to all of the local organizations and community members that championed our cause and who made exceptional contributions to our 2009 Campaign,” said Barbara Burton, CEO of United Way of Oakville.

United Way of Oakville also presented the third annual Lloyd Duncan Memorial Award for Outstanding Volunteerism to Ann Mulvale.

“As long as Ann has been in Oakville, she has been a tireless supporter of United Way,” said Tim Johnston, United Way of Oakville Board Chair. “Ann was our greatest ambassador everywhere she went. She was never afraid of sharing her own very personal story to help spread the word and educate the public about the importance of giving to United Way of Oakville. It has been an honour working with her.”

At the end of the event, United Way of Oakville announced it raised 95% of its campaign goal and will continue fundraising into January to ensure that they reach goal.
