Community Achievement Celebration
Nearly 150 people joined United Way of Oakville for its annual Community Achievement Celebration on Wednesday, December 9th. The breakfast took place at Operating Engineers Banquet Hall and was provided by Whole Foods. United Way Campaign Awards were presented to the following organizations:
- Winston Park Challenge Spirit Award – AMEC
- Winston Park Challenge Winner – Mattamy Homes Ltd.
- Agency Division Award 2009 – Community Living Oakville
- Business Division Award 2009 – Best Buy
- Education Division Award 2009 – Glenburnie School
- Manufacturing Division Award 2009 – Mattamy Homes Ltd.
- Public Service Division Award 2009 – Regional Municipality of Halton
- Service Division Award 2009 – O’Connor MacLeod Hanna LLP
- Outstanding Employee Campaign Coordinator Award 2009 – Helen Choat
- Outstanding Campaign Volunteer Award – Gerald Popp
- Best New Employee Campaign Award 2009 – Pethealth Inc.
- Best Campaign Award 2009 – Mattamy Homes Ltd.
We are thankful to all of the local organizations and community members that championed our cause and who made exceptional contributions to our 2009 Campaign,” said Barbara Burton, CEO of United Way of Oakville.
United Way of Oakville also presented the third annual Lloyd Duncan Memorial Award for Outstanding Volunteerism to Ann Mulvale.
“As long as Ann has been in Oakville, she has been a tireless supporter of United Way,” said Tim Johnston, United Way of Oakville Board Chair. “Ann was our greatest ambassador everywhere she went. She was never afraid of sharing her own very personal story to help spread the word and educate the public about the importance of giving to United Way of Oakville. It has been an honour working with her.”
At the end of the event, United Way of Oakville announced it raised 95% of its campaign goal and will continue fundraising into January to ensure that they reach goal.
